Hollow Sphere Pigment HIQUE 2000 is styreneacrylic copolymer
emulsion designed for paper coatings. Hollow sphere HIQUE 2000 is supplied as
emulsion and it's particle size is about 1.0um with following structure(Fig 1.)
Initially this hollow is filled with water in emulsion form. But
after drying, water in hollow is substituted by air and this structure is useful
in paper coating. Since Dow chemical develope the polystyrene base plastic
pigment for paper coating on 1973, most of coated paper manufacturer use the
solid form plastic pigment instead of mineral pigment in coating component. Its
main advantages are reducing the roll temperature and pressure to get good gloss
of coating, improvement of printing performance and reducing the paper weight.
Hollow sphere is more advanced material than solid base plastic pigment. Main
advantages of coated paper and paperboard using Hollow Sphere Pigment HIQUE 2000
are as following. |
